The bottom line is that the button and cutoff are by far the most profitable seats in a Texas Holdem poker game.

In other words, you are always in total control of the hand. This is an advantage that is so important in poker because it allows you to always get to see what they do first and then decide what you want to do. The reason why you want to do this is because when you are playing on the button or the cutoff you are almost guaranteed to act last after every postflop street (flop, turn and river). It means that you want to be playing as often as possible from the two seats directly to the right of the blinds which are called the button and the cutoff (see chart below).
